The Soapbox: Rants and Commentary:
Mediocrity and the Growing Bonebedhead99@ignmail.comAlright. Now, I don't want to get off on a rant here, but what happened to our society? It seems as though nobody can take responsiility for their actions anymore. When was the last time you heard Jenny jones talk about how screwed up HER life is, as she drones on everyday about "A Hick With More Than one Chick"?? Everybody seems more than happy to lay blame on other people, and it truly is sickening how low we humans can go. I have yet to hear one person in my school actually say that they failed their test because they were burnouts, and NOT because "The teacher's a d*ck, man." Our society seems more and more willing to shove the resolution of "pleasing people" down our throats each day. I can't even remember the last time I saw a newscast without at least one minority present (nothing against minoritys!!). It seems as though our products are not good unless they can be unoffensive and tasteless. I won't be surprised to find black, white, and brown pumpernickle bread soon on our store shelves!! This new mentality is spreading to our youth as well, considering how the Backstreet Boys are as non-biased as they come. They are just five guys who look the same, talk the same, sing the same, and probably sleep together as well!! We, as a society, must realize that it is sometimes better to offend people than to agree with them. Next time you see Bill Gates, tell him that his software sucks, not how long the wait is to Win2002. I think that we are scared of being different, being unique. The breaking point came when a certain Christmas book was plled from the stores of Wal-Mart for containing a picture of a naked elf. Okay, so I guess elves are not allowed to be naked, and I guess we'd better hide all of the naked people from our children. Why do teenagers rebel? Well, I think I know why; because they have just realized that they've got d*cks and t*ts, and they want to show them off, dammit!! And then society labels teens as "rebellious"...well, after not seeing any naked anything for 12 years, I think I'd be surprised too if I woke up to see that my sheets look like a teepee. That's just my humble opinion, I could just be right... bedhead99@ignmail.com (Michael Banovsky) |
