Dan's Wide World of Stuff!

The Soapbox: Rants and Commentary:

Publicly Parroting Political Propaganda

Composed by Dan O'Leary(dano@raven.cybercomm.net)

I was cruising the Campaign 96 Web site recently, and read through a long list of surfer comments posted on the site, most of which were little more than slams of both the candidate and the party the poster happen to not be affiliated with. Hardly any of these comments explained exactly WHY they thought Clinton was the right choice, why they thought Dole was an honorable man, or why they wouldn't look past options #1 and #2 to see if there was an alternative.

I started to wonder if this was an actual cross-section of how voters were actually reasoning which man would be the best leader, which prompted me to post the follwing reply:

Why do I continue to see people promoting who they think is the lesser of two morons, or trumpeting the "virtues" of the Dems and GOPs as if they were reading straight from the party press releases? Let's be honest, folks, this 2-party corner we've painted ourselves into is a dead end. Both parties/candidates have too many faults in their respective logic to want either one running the Executive office. Between Bob "There is no healthcare crisis in America" Dole, and Bill "Well, what do YOU think?" Clinton, we all must look to another party for relief. Whether you prefer Perot(Reform), Nader(Green), Browne(Libertarian), or whoever, you owe to yourself to find out what they're all about. It's not a throwaway vote- enough drops in the bucket make it full. Don't fall for the status-quo lies both these parties are feeding you, and make your statement against them with your vote.

I'm still waiting for a response.
