Three Years and Counting

Divider Bar

It's been a long time,
Hasn't it?
And even though
We've finally made it past
The tears,
And the sorrow,
There's an ache,
Somewhere left of my heart
And right of my soul,
That still registers your loss.
I'm trying to see you
As you would be now,
But the haze of years and memories
Brings me inexorably back
To a tall boy on a sunlit day,
Smiling and waving goodbye.
It's been a long time,
And I miss you still,
But it's time to let go.
I love you,
And I hope that somehow,
Somewhere,
You can see me,
Standing at last in the sun,
Waving goodbye.
